Vrysoula Rampart
The seaside rampart of Pefkakia was situated between the headlands of Skafidaki and Aktio.
It must have been built as a succession to the moat at the same time as the latter (the beginning of the nineteenth century).Together with the Castle of Agios Andreas, it belongs to the second line of the Turkish defense works and controlled the city’s harbour. It was surrounded by an outer inclined wall which is preserved up to this day. Next to the rampart was one of the four central gates which led from the city to the countryside.
