Cow Festival in Krania

Place: Krania (distance from Preveza: 41 km)
Date: 26 July

Description

Since 2006, the Cow Festival has been held on 26 July, the day which is dedicated to Agia Paraskevi, under plane-trees in the village square of Krania.

The night is devoted to a local agricultural product, the cow, which is raised in the region and represents the primary source of income for the locals. Members of the Krania Cultural Association cook meat from their own cattle in large pots and offer it to the visitors. A local band entertains the audience with popular Greek folk music.

The Cow Festival is attended by all of the local authorities and a large number of people which reaches, according to the organizers, from 1,500 to 2,000 visitors who come from all over Epirus.
